Full Guide 2023

Table of Content

Are you looking for a nice, cozy place in Nebraska for your holidays that doesn’t cost your kidney? Best Western Plus Midwest Inn could be your best hotel!

The family-friendly lodging welcomes adults and kids of all ages. And their pet-friendly policy ensures your fur babies enjoy a vacation with you!

In terms of the amenities it offers, Best Western Plus Midwest Inn competes with low-tier Marriott and Hilton properties. The property boasts an indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and non-smoking and disability-accessible rooms, among other facilities.

That said, some guests have left, to put it subtly, not-so-positive remarks on Google, sharing their bad experiences at the hotel.

So, I have prepared this guide on the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn to give you a better perspective of the lodging’s pros and cons. You will also find a comprehensive analysis of the hotel’s various features, dining options in and around the property, and nearby attractions.

I have also sneaked some alternatives at the end of this post, so you have a Plan B in case the Best Midwest Plus Inn doesn’t meet your expectations. So, let’s get started!

Summary:

Some customers have claimed the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn is the cheapest peaceful retreat in Nebraska, and I couldn’t agree more. When spending a weekend away from home and work, you need a quiet place that is not crowded from door to window. Luckily, this hotel doesn’t have that many on-site attractions, so you won’t be waking up to the sound of kids running up and down the halls.

The pool is open year-round so you can plan your vacation at your convenience. Additionally, the place treats its guests to a delicious breakfast buffet and offers rooms with whirlpools for the ultimate relaxation. And to get all this for such a minimal cost – it’s practically a steal!

Personal opinion as a travel expert

If you ask me, booking a hotel is a risky gamble. You could be expecting a lavish water park, only to end up with a single shared pool. Luckily, Best Western Plus Inn didn’t scam me like that.

My family was looking forward to a casual vacation in Nebraska, so I wasn’t actively searching for someplace fancy. Hotels with ultra-modern amenities, 24/7 kids activities, and busy waterparks were also a no-go.

Hours of research later, I shortlisted Best Western Plus Midwest Inn as our potential holiday retreat. To be honest, I had some reservations in mind when booking our rooms after reading the negative reviews on Google. However, after spending two nights at the inn, I was glad I made the decision!

Their cozy rooms and fitness center offered ample opportunities to relax while the kids had fun in their indoor pool area. Cherry on top: we availed their discount offer and ended up spending a lot less than what we had initially planned.

I have discussed these discounts below, along with a summary of customers’ reviews, so that you get an idea of what the place offers and where it is lacking.

Who is the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn for?

The Best Western Plus Midwest Inn isn’t an adults-only lodging, but it very well could be. Couples have given the place excellent ratings, making it a strong contender for 2-person trips in Omaha.

Equipped with cozy rooms, whirlpools, a fitness center, a pool area, and a business lounge for workaholics, the place is ideal for adults. The rooms here are cheaper than other popular hotel chains, making it an excellent choice for people looking forward to a pleasant experience on a low budget.

Who is the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn NOT for?

I wouldn’t recommend the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn to families with teenage kids looking forward to a fun-filled stay. There are various recreation spots near the hotel, but there’s not much to do on-site.

The hotel boasts a big indoor pool area with a separate kiddie pool, but that’s pretty much it. The water slides in the pool area aren’t nearly as thrilling as other hotels in Omaha, and there aren’t any other activities for kids.

Is it worth it if I travel with kids aged between 3 and 7 years?

Families with kids around this age bracket have left positive reviews on Google and TripAdvisor, and I share the thought. Best Western Plus Midwest Inn’s indoor pool area has a shallow kiddie pool with slides for the little ones.

The enclosed pool space means your kids will be safe inside, so you won’t have to worry about them wandering off. Your kids will be occupied the entire evening, so you can get your work done, hit the fitness center, or relax in the whirlpool.

Can I avail discounts when booking a room at the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn?

You sure can! Best Western Plus Midwest Inn is already cheaper than other hotels offering similar amenities. And you still have the opportunity to save so much more by availing their discount offers.

Here are some of the discounts you can avail of at the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn:

  • Early Web Special Discount: Get a 15% to 30% discount by booking your room at least 21 days before your arrival date. Payments have to be made in advance via credit card, and the amount charged is non-refundable on booking cancellation.

  • AAA, AARP, and CAA Discounts: Members can avail additional discounts on the hotel’s per diem rates.
  • Best Western Rewards Redemption Discounts: Best Western Rewards members can win a free night at the hotel by redeeming their reward points.

Our room was HUGE! I’m so going back here, it’s almost as if they had a complete remodel recently? The cleanliness was impeccable, they have everything decorated for Halloween and and I thought that was super cute and welcoming. The front desk lady was beyond sweet and very informative, I wish I would’ve got her name (she deserves a raise!) We were on the 5th floor. A safety feature bonus that I enjoyed was, you must have a room key to use the elevator to go up on any floor. I’d give it a 10 ⭐️ if I could, I highly recommend!

Such a great and child friendly stay! Rooms were clean and well maintained. The pool was great for kids. The whole thing was under 3 feet and had the two slides. And warm! Breakfast was pretty standard with cooked food and hotel staples. Not centrally located but a short drive to where we wanted to be

Place really shows its age, tiny bathroom and no usb ports in room. Lobby very decorated in halloween theme, so somebody is really trying and front desk staff was good. Elevator didnt stop even with floor, bit of a trip hazard. Second day of stay breakfast offerings were decimated. I asked cook if there was more food coming, he asked what was out and as I listed items he said item 1 was a no go, but said maybe he could round up some bacon. He didn't bother looking at the serving line and was more interested in his phone and eating the bacon on his plate in the food prep area so I went and got breakfast down the street. The prevalence of branson tshirts, sleeveless t shirts and flip flops tells the tale as well as the herds of children giving the touch screen coffe machine a workout in their quest for mocha nirvana. The pool area has the water park vibe as evidenced by the big raining mushroom I observed beyond the kitchen area when asking about food. I saw people carrying single golf clubs so I suspect putt putt is also available. Returning to the property one evening witnessing the female cop telling the shirtless guy sitting on the curb in shorts that "she doesn't want you here" rounded out the overall experience. If you have 5 or more children & want a cheap mini vacation this is your spot. Other demographics may be happier elsewhere.

I've never been to a hotel before that has decorated for Halloween in their lobby/reservation desk area. Very well done! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Very clean place. The room I had was very spacious and well put together. I liked the fact that this hotel also had a back elevator that you could use with your room key. Came in handy instead of walking back up to the lobby to use the elevator there. Lots of parking around the whole building. A wide variety of hot/cold foods for breakfast. Nice spread. Lol Definitely will be back if ever in the area again.

Great hotel in western Omaha, just off I-80. Definitely an older hotel, but the rooms have been updated. The only critique of the room is that the mattress was a little firm. Room was very clean. Bathroom was spotless. Pool area was wonderful! Great for kids! A mini waterslide for the small kids and a bigger one for the older kids. Max pool depth is 3 feet, so no need to worry about kids wandering into the deep end. Breakfast looked great and we would've stayed if we didn't have other plans. They had scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, waffles, and more. Far greater selection than what most hotels provide. Staff was wonderful from the front desk to the housekeepers and maintenance man (who was checking the water quality in the pool/hot tub). Only about 10-12 minutes from the zoo. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Omaha in November.

We booked this hotel super last minute, and they had no problem finding us a room & answering all of our questions. The rates were fair, especially since we were traveling with a dog. The little water park for kiddos was great entertainment (definitely geared towards toddlers.) The hotel felt clean, our room felt clean - & the beds were incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was included & great as we were on-the-go. The only thing we wished could have happened was a late check-out. Overall, we would absolutely stay here again & we would recommend it to others.

Indoor Pool, Dining Options, and More

The Best Western Plus Midwest Inn features a decent indoor pool area with a separate kids’ pool and water slides. It’s not as fancy as the waterpark resorts you’ll find in the city, but at least you’ll get a shot at relaxation without running into kids every step of the way.

As for the dining scene, you’ll wake up to a delicious breakfast buffet, but that’s about it! The hotel doesn’t boast any on-site restaurants, though you will find some excellent eateries nearby.

Best Western Plus Loyalty Program

I’ve already discussed how the Best Western Plus Midwest Inn offers special discounts to exclusive partners and military and senior citizen discounts. It’s almost as if the establishment wants you to spend as little as possible.

But, the Best Western Rewards Program is my personal favorite, primarily because I don’t qualify for any other waiver program they offer. By enrolling in the reward program, you will get to avail BWR Exclusive Member Rates, gain loyalty points that never expire, and have the option of redeeming your points for a free night stay. The best part is that you won’t have to spend a penny to get started because the membership is free of cost.

Here’s how you can earn points as a BWR Member:

  • Blue Status: New members automatically earn Blue Status in the program. The perks attached to this status include early check-in and late check-out. Additionally, you’ll earn at least 10 points for every $1 spent on eligible stays at the property.
  • Elite Status: When you meet specific qualification criteria, the BWR Program promotes you to the Elite Status. Four Elite Status tiers, namely, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Diamond Select, offer up to 50% bonus points on each $1 spent inside the premises.

Even if you don’t have enough points to win a free night at the hotel, you can redeem your existing points to get a discount on your next reservation. 1,000 points are worth $25 off the cost of your room, while 5,000 points will save you a flat $25.

Rooms

The Best Western Plus Midwest Inn features 99 rooms with laptop-friendly workspaces and air conditioning. Though the rooms don’t have balconies, you can book disability-accessible rooms or even ones with a whirlpool.

You can request an extra bed for kids aged 3 and under, but will have to incur an additional charge of $20 per kid per night.

Location

The Best Western Plus Midwest Inn is within a 15-minute drive from Omaha. The property is conveniently situated near popular tourist attractions, like the Mockingbird Hills Community Center, which is a short stroll away.

Eppley Airport is around 20 minutes from the hotel, but you’ll have to arrange for a commute as the inn doesn’t offer airport shuttle service.

You will enjoy an equally pleasant stay regardless of the season you book your stay in, and your kids will have a blast in their indoor pool area. And their pet-friendly policy means you won’t have to look for a sitter for your furry friends.

Most importantly, thanks to the low rates and discount offers, you won’t be exhausting your life savings at the hotel, so it’s a win-win.
